The Pro 3000 sits firmly in the middle of the Oral-B range of brushes in terms of price and features. It comes in at around the £40 to £45 mark so it’s certainly not cheap.
It also lacks some of the “nice to have’s” of some more expensive brushes out there – but that’s not to say it’s not a good choice. So let’s go through why this brush might be just right for you.
- it uses the same advanced brushing technology as the most expensive models
- it costs about half the price of many of the newer models
- it’s still one of Oral-B’s best sellers
- it’s easy to use, it only incorporates the most important features
- large choice of compatible brush head types
- you get a high quality electric toothbrush without breaking the bank
Charging the brush
Before first use you have to fully charge the brush, it can take over 12 hours to fully charge but don’t take any short cuts, your best bet is to leave it charging overnight.
When fully charged this brush lasts for up to seven days with regular use, obviously less if you share the brush. It’s very easy to recharge your toothbrush, all you have to do is simply plug the charging unit into an electrical outlet and place the toothbrush handle on the charging unit.
Note that it comes with a 2 pin charger (as all bathroom small appliances have to do), so make sure you have a 2-pin to 3-pin adapter.
You may find the brush needs recharging more frequently over time – you should deplete the battery by not placing it on the charging station until it is fully discharged – and then fully recharge it.
The manufacturer recommends you deplete and recharge your brush every six months if you do that you should continue to get the a weeks worth of brushing out of a single charge.
The Pro 3000 has three different cleaning modes available at the push of a button.
- Daily Clean: Exceptional cleaning of teeth and gums
- Sensitive: Gentle yet thorough cleaning for sensitive areas
- Gum Care:
Oral-B advise starting with the brush and toothpaste in your mouth to avoid the toothpaste flying everywhere, this is a powerful little devil with 8,800 rotations and 40,000 pulsations a minute.
Brush Head Compatibility
The Pro 3000 toothbrush is compatible with a variety of Oral-B brush heads, including Precision Clean, Floss Action, Dual Action, Sensitive Clean and 3D White. The only exceptions are the Pulsonic and Sonic brush heads.
A nice feature is that a Oral-B toothbrush head comes with a coloured ring that fits on to the base of the replacement brush head. These rings come in a variety of colours allowing you to distinguish between different people’s brush heads if using the same toothbrush handle.
Brush Head Technology
The CrossAction toothbrush head is set at a dynamic 16-degree angle for tooth-by-tooth brushing, crissCross bristles are able to attack, lift and sweep away more dental plaque than a regular manual toothbrush.
When brushing your teeth you should not apply too much pressure on your teeth as it can harm them and it also causes the brush head to wear out.
To help you keep the optimal pressure while brushing, this brush features a visual indicator, which will lighten up to alert if you start pressing too hard.
As you are probably aware, dentists recommend brushing for a full two minutes to give your teeth an adequate clean. This is something that many people simply fail to do and a quadrant timer can be a great help in this respect.
The 3000 has a built in timer so you know when you reach the recommended two minutes of brushing. It also alerts you every 30 seconds so you know when to move to the next quadrant of your mouth.
Most people tend to rush things when brushing so a timer really keeps you focused on brushing for the correct amount of time. It works by producing a short stuttering sound you can hear and feel after each 30 seconds, when your two minutes are up the brush emits a longer stutter.
